Rhode Island Natural History Survey
Climate Change Challenge: Rising seas
Grant Award: $183,700; Year Awarded: 2015
This project adapts rare salt marsh and adjacent coastal forest that is important to migratory birds to enhance their function in likely climate change scenarios. The Rhode Island Natural History Survey will improve resilience of already rare habitats (coastal shrublands and forests) whose critical wildlife functions like rest and food for migrating birds and breeding habitat, are being further endangered by effects of climate change, specifically sea level rise and plant community breakdown.
